BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Sophomore
Baylyn Shankman of the St. Olaf College women's hockey team was honored as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Shankman was named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and the third time in her career after her 40-save shutout in Friday's 1-0 victory at Concordia-Moorhead. The sophomore's 40 saves are the most by a MIAC goaltender in a shutout this season as she made 14 saves in the first and third periods and 12 more in the second.
The Oles will head to Minneapolis to open their MIAC series against nationally-ranked Augsburg University at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30.
