NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's basketball team closed out its season with a 62-52 victory over crosstown-rival Carleton College on Saturday afternoon at Skoglund Center.

Joy Brandenstein led St. Olaf (7-18, 2-16 MIAC) past Carleton (7-18, 4-14 MIAC) with a career-high 24 points and career-best six assists. The victory was the second for the Oles in their final three Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) games of the season.
Brandenstein shot 8-for-14 from the field, 3-for-4 from three-point range, and 5-for-5 from the free-throw line in the first game of her career with at least 20 points. First year
Erin Schauer also made three three-pointers as part of a 12-point afternoon, while sophomore
Elise Hahn registered her 10th double-double of the season with 10 points and 16 rebounds.
St. Olaf had one of its best shooting games of the season, hitting 23-of-53 (43.4 percent) from the field and 9-of-16 (56.3 percent) from three-point range in the win. The Oles also generated 23 points off 15 Carleton turnovers.
Audrey Whitney led Carleton with 18 points and hit 4-of-8 three-pointers while playing all 40 minutes for the Knights, who had just seven available players. Maggie Winesett had 12 points, five rebounds, five steals, and two assists, while Liesl McCallum added 11 points and six boards. St. Olaf held McCallum and Addy Huss, who combined for 55 points in the first meeting on Jan. 3, to just 18 points.
St. Olaf hit all four of its three-pointers and was 8-for-13 (61.5 percent) from the field on its way to a 22-16 lead after the first quarter. Schauer drained a pair of three-pointers to help the Oles dig out of a 12-6 hold midway through the quarter by scoring 16 points over the final 4:34.
The two teams scored just seven points apiece in the second quarter, leaving St. Olaf with a 29-23 halftime lead. Brandenstein had six of the Oles' seven points in the second to cap an 11-point opening half.
After trailing by eight, Carleton tied the game twice in the third quarter, but Brandenstein scored five of St. Olaf's seven points in a 7-0 spurt that broke a 33-33 tie to help the Oles to a 42-36 advantage heading to the fourth. In the fourth, the Knights trimmed their deficit to two at 46-44 with 5:29 to go, but St. Olaf made its next five shots, including three-pointers by Schauer and first year
Norah Bickett, to open up an 11-point cushion with 1:14 remaining.
