Jore earns MIAC Elite 22 Award for women's indoor track and field

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Senior Ashlyn Jore of the St. Olaf College women's indoor track and field team was honored as the recipient of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Elite 22 Award for women's indoor track and field on Thursday.

Jore became St. Olaf's first-ever MIAC Elite 22 Award recipient in women's indoor track and field since the award's inception in 2013-14. The award honors the student-athlete who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in their sport while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers. Overall, Jore is St. Olaf's 16 MIAC Elite 22 Award recipient.

Modeled after the NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete Award (formerly the Elite 90 Award), the MIAC Elite 22 Award is presented annually to the student-athlete with the highest grade-point average (GPA) in each sport who meet similarly high, sport-specific athletic requirements. In indoor track and field, the winner is the individual with the highest GPA who was named All-Conference in at least one event. The winner must be a junior or senior in at least their second full academic year at their institution. Ties are broken by the number of credits earned at their current school.

A senior majoring in biology with a 4.0 cumulative GPA, Jore won the long jump at the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships with a mark of 5.57 meters (18' 3 ¼") to become the first Ole champion in the event since 1994. In her career, Jore was also the 2024 MIAC indoor runner-up in the long jump, while adding four other top-five individual conference finishes, three of which are in the long jump.
