Women's tennis downed by Carleton in return to MIAC play

NORHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's tennis team saw its five-match winning streak halted with a 7-0 loss to crosstown-rival Carleton College on Wednesday afternoon at Pat Lamb Tennis Courts.

Carleton (11-4, 7-0 MIAC) remained undefeated in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play by claiming the doubles point and dropping just one set to St. Olaf (9-5, 2-4 MIAC) across the six singles matches.

In doubles, the Knights grabbed hold of the first point of the afternoon with a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles and a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles. First year Dana Keesler and junior Elliana Loesch hung with their opponents at No. 2 doubles before dropping the tiebreaker by a 7-4 margin.

Senior Alexandra Berns recorded the lone set win of the day for the Oles in singles by winning the first set of her match at No. 1 singles before falling by a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) score.

St. Olaf is slated to host No. 18-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College in its first outdoor home match or the spring at Carlson Courts at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 12.
