Regan Zak and first year catcher
Hannah Yaeger of the St. Olaf College softball team were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Region IX Teams, as announced on Friday.
Zak was one of 13 first-team honorees in the region, while Yaeger was a third-team selection as one of just four first years honored in Region IX. The two NFCA All-Region selections marked the sixth time in the last nine seasons that St. Olaf had multiple student-athletes honored in the regional awards.
Zak earned her first all-region honor after putting together one of the top statistical seasons in program history as the Oles' leadoff hitter. The junior hit .458 (54-for-118) with a .522 on-base percentage go to with two doubles, three triples, nine RBI, 15 walks, 26 stolen bases in 26 tries, and 41 runs scored, setting single-season program records in batting average and stole bases. Zak's totals also ranked second in program history in hits, third in on-base percentage, and third in runs. She is the ninth first-team selection in program history.
Yaeger joined current assistant coach
Julie Graf '21 (2017) as the lone first years in program history to claim all-region honors after a standout rookie season. Yaeger hit .432 (51-for-118) with a .493 on-base percentage and .703 slugging percentage while totaling 21 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 11 walks, 23 runs scored, and 33 RBI. Her totals rank second in program history in doubles, third in batting average, fourth in slugging percentage and total bases (83), tied for fifth in on-base percentage and RBI, and tied for sixth in hits.
Along with the rest of the all-region honorees, Zak and Yaeger will be eligible for consideration for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announcd on May 27.
