Dave Stromme

Dave Stromme '83 completed his 13th season as the head women's basketball coach at St. Olaf in 2019-20.

Stromme's teams have posted six seasons with double-digit victories, including a 17-9 mark in 2011-12, and his career record stands at 123-204, making him the second-winningest coach in program history. Stromme led the Oles to MIAC Playoff appearances in 2011-12 and 2013-14.

Prior to returning to his alma mater in 2007-08, Stromme was the interim head women's basketball coach at the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2006-07, leading the Division II Bulldogs to a 15-14 record and a trip to the NCC Playoff semifinals.
 
From 2002-2006, Stromme spent four seasons at the University of Minnesota, helping the Golden Gophers to a 95-37 (.742) record and four trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a Final Four appearance in 2003-04 and two Sweet Sixteen showings. His primary responsibilities with Minnesota were post players and defense. He also organized the scout team and helped recruiting efforts.
 
The 2006-07 stint at UMD was the second for Stromme, who was the top assistant for his older sister, Karen, for 17 seasons from 1985-02. In that time, the Bulldogs went 370-159 (.703) and advanced to the NCAA Tournament five times and the NAIA Tournament eight times.
 
Stromme was also on staff with the Bulldog football program as assistant offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach from 1993-98 and taught a variety of courses in the physical education department.

He graduated from St. Olaf in 1983 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science and earned his bachelor of applied science degree in physical education and his coaching certification from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 1989. He then completed his master's degree at UMD in the spring of 1999.
 
Stromme is a native of Duluth, Minn. He and his wife, Stephany, have three children: Ella, Anja and Andrew.
