Garrett Solis is in his second season as an assistant coach for the St. Olaf women's basketball program in 2025-26 after being hired in August 2024. He also serves as the program's recruiting coordinator.

As part of a coaching staff that inherited a team that won four games in 2023-24, Solis helped guide St. Olaf to a 7-18 (.280) record in 2024-25 that included a 5-1 start that was the program's best start to a season since 2015-16. The Oles posted one of the top three-point shooting seasons in program history, making 153 three-pointers for the fifth-highest total in program annals, and recorded the second-highest free-throw percentage mark (.691) in program history. St. Olaf also recorded a top-10 defensive mark in program history by holding opponents to 63.0 points per game.

Sophomore Chloee Smith earned All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) honors as part of the 18-member All-Conference Team after ranking in the top 10 in the conference in 11 different categories. St. Olaf also had six Academic All-MIAC honorees and four College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections in Solis' first season.

Solis came to St. Olaf after spending two seasons as an assistant coach for the University of St. Thomas women's basketball program from 2022-24. At St. Thomas, he was involved with recruiting, travel, scheduling, alumni relations, opponent scouting, practice and game film breakdown, and skill development. Solis helped the Tommies to 28 wins over the two seasons and back-to-back appearances in the quarterfinals of the Summit League Championship.

Prior to St. Thomas, Solis worked with the women's basketball program at the University of Minnesota for six seasons, one as the assistant director of basketball operations, three as the assistant to the head coach, and two as administrative intern. He assisted in the day-to-day operations of the program, including managing the scout team and student managers, while also handling various administrative duties, acting as the liaison to the Fast Break Club, and assisting the team's video coordinator.

Solis earned his bachelor of science degree in social studies with a minor in history from Eastern Michigan University in 2015. While at EMU, he served as assistant video coordinator for the men's basketball program for two years after three years as a student manager. He also was an intern with Hudl and was an assistant coach for the varsity boys basketball program at Lincoln Park High School.

Solis lives in Bloomington with his wife, Callie, their daughter, Trevi, and their dog, Greta. He is an active member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and the Latino Association of Basketball Coaches (LABC).
