Tracy Johnson is in her seventh season as the head women's hockey coach at St. Olaf in 2025-26 after being named the program's fourth head coach on March 29, 2019.

A two-time Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2024-25), Johnson has led St. Olaf to a 45-78-5 (.371) record through six seasons. After inheriting a team that was winless in 2018-19 and did not win a game in 2019-20, Johnson has led the Oles to at least nine victories in each of the last five seasons, including three consecutive seasons with double-digit wins over the last three seasons.

During Johnson's time on the Hill, St. Olaf has produced eight All-MIAC selections, six Honorable Mention All-MIAC honorees, 54 Academic All-MIAC honorees, 32 AHCA All-American Scholars, and seven College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees. The Oles have also made three MIAC Playoff appearances in the last four seasons.

A native of Plymouth, Minn., Johnson came to St. Olaf following six seasons as the head women's hockey coach at Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Md., where she led the Mustangs to a record of 85-60-11 (.580). After taking over the second-year program in 2013-14, Stevenson won at least 14 games in four of Johnson's six seasons and claimed the inaugural Colonial Hockey Conference title in 2015-16. Through nine seasons as a head coach at St. Olaf and Stevenson, Johnson has a career record of 94-100-13 (.486).

At Stevenson, Johnson coached 23 all-conference selections, including four league Players of the Year and two Rookies of the Year, and was named the 2018 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Coach of the Year. Under her watch, 45 student-athletes were named to conference-wide All-Academic Teams in three seasons, including 21 in 2017-18, and nine student-athletes earned AHCA All-American Scholars a year ago.

Johnson, who also served as the assistant director of compliance at Stevenson, has additional coaching experience with the Midfairfield CT Stars 19U and Minnesota Jr. Chill 12U, 10U and 8U teams. She started her coaching career with stops at Arlington Catholic High School (Mass.) and Amherst College (Mass.).

A 2010 graduate of Boston College with a degree in marketing, Johnson played in 125 games for the Eagles, captaining the team as a junior and senior. The Eagles advanced to the national semifinals in her first season of 2006-07 and the national quarterfinals in her junior year.

A native of Plymouth, Minnesota, Johnson played hockey at Benilde-St. Margaret's High School, where she was a two-year captain, two-time all-state honoree, three-time all-conference selection and Hobey Baker Character Award winner, while helping lead the Red Knights to a state championship in 2004. In 2019, Johnson was inducted ino the Benilde-St. Margaret's Athletic Hall of Fame.
