Sean Ahrar completed his 15th season as the head wrestling coach at St. Olaf in 2019-20.

During his time at St. Olaf, Ahrar has coached three student-athletes to four All-American honors, with Garrett Beaman most recently finishing seventh in the country in 2015-16. In 2010-11, he coached both Ryan Timmerman and Josef Waples to All-American honors. Timmerman finished fourth nationally at 141 pounds in 2011-12.

Ahrar also coached three Scholar All-Americans in 2014-15 in Carl Elmer, Sameh Almousa and Adam Woitalla.

Ahrar spent 2004-05 as the head coach at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D., leading seven Tigers to the NAIA National Championships and producing two Great Plains Athletic Conference Champions, as well as one regional champion. A native of Iran, Ahrar spent two seasons at Carleton College as head coach, where he was named the MIAC Coach of the Year in 2002, before heading to DWU.
 
Ahrar, a 1992 graduate of Minnesota State University-Mankato, has a bachelor's degree in English literature and a minor in speech communications. He was a varsity wrestler at MSU-Mankato, as well as the 1988 Men's National Collegiate Olympic Weightlifting champion. He earned a master's degree in management from the College of St. Scholastica in June of 2004.
