Dylan Johnson is in his first season as an assistant coach for the St. Olaf men's hockey program in 2025-26 after being hired in August 2025.
A former NCAA Division III student-athlete at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, Johnson joined the staff after a two-year professional career playing for the Birmingham Bulls in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). After concluding his playing career after the 2023-24 season, Johnson was an assistant coach for the boys’ hockey program at Cloquet High School in his hometown.
After racking up 114 points in 102 career games at Cloquet, Johnson played parts of three seasons in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and recorded 62 points on 33 goals and 29 assists in 108 regular-season games. At UW-Superior, Johnson accumulated 60 points on 30 goals and 30 assists in 64 games. He earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) postseason honors in all three seasons, as he was a First Team All-WIAC honoree and WIAC Newcomer of the Year in 2019-20, an Honorable Mention All-WIAC selection in 2020-21, and a First Team All-WIAC honoree in 2021-22.
Johnson graduated magna cum laude from UW-Superior in 2022 with a bachelor of science in exercise science and a minor in environmental wellness. In two seasons with the Birmingham Bulls, he compiled 41 points on 11 goals and 30 assists in 67 games during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons before starting his coaching career at Cloquet. Johnson also worked as a personal trainer at Park Ave Fitness and as a hockey skills coach for Northland Hockey Development Academy (NHDA).
