Connor O'Neill is in his fifth season at St. Olaf in 2022-23 and his first as the associate head coach of the men's and women's track and field programs.
O'Neill started at St. Olaf in 2018-19 as an assistant coach for the men's and women's cross country and track and field programs before being named the programs' first-ever full-time assistant the following year. He spent the 2021-22 season as the interim head coach of the women's track and field program, leading the program to a third-place finish at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Outdoor Championships and a fourth-place showing at the MIAC Indoor Championships.
At the 2022 MIAC Outdoor Championships, St. Olaf posted its second-highest point total (113.33) since 1994 to match its best finish at the meet since that same year. Senior Ellen Mickelson also qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, marking the fifth national qualifier for the program since O'Neill joined the staff.
Over O'Neill's four seasons with the women's track and field program, the program has produced four All-Americans, 15 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honorees, 34 All-MIAC honorees, eight national qualifiers, and 72 performances that are currently on the program's all-time top-10 lists. Over the same time, the men's program has generated five All-Americans, 13 USTFCCCA All-Region honorees, 32 All-MIAC honorees, 10 national qualifiers, and 52 performances on the program's top-10 lists.
O'Neill graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 2018 with a Bachelor's of Science in physics while competing as a member of the track & field teams. He set the school record and earned All-American honors in the pole vault and also qualified for nationals in the decathlon and heptathlon.
