ELMHURST, Ill. - The St. Olaf volleyball team snapped its eight-match losing streak with a five-set victory over UW-Eau Claire on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the Elmhurst College Invitational.
Devon Flohrs had 15 kills and
Abby Carpenter 14 as the Oles held a 2-0 set advantage but needed a fifth to secure the 25-17, 27-25, 20-25, 16-25 and 15-13 victory. UW-Eau Claire had 14 kills each from Megan Tracy and Alexis Wong in the loss.Â
Maggie Prunty added 11 kills, hitting .455. Prunty had an ace on the way to the Oles' 8-4 start in the final frame.
Earlier in the day, the Oles lost a five-set match as Simpson College prevailed 25-23, 28-30, 17-25, 25-23, 15-12. Flohrs had 17 and Prunty 13 while hitting .407.
Abby Slack had a season-best 35 digs in the loss.Â
Simpson, which raced to a 4-0 lead in the decisive fifth set, was led by Babitha Blaser's 17 kills and 15 erach from Jacqueline Luth and Elisa Wildy.
