RIVER FALLS, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin River Falls scored multiple goals in each period to cruise past St. Olaf 9-0 Tuesday night in River Falls.
Five different Falcons recorded at least three points including Chloe Kinsel, Carly Moran and Alice Cranston, who each scored twice. Kylie Hommerding stopped 12 shots to earn the shutout and her first win of the season for River Falls (6-2; 3-1 WIAC).
St. Olaf (0-7; 0-4 MIAC) was under pressure from the outset as starting goaltender
Hailey Sampson was peppered with 22 shots in the opening frame. Kinsel scored her first 2:47 into the contest and following a Falcon goal with under two minutes to play, the Oles trailed 2-0.
It was more of the same in the second as River Falls netted four goals from four different players to grab a 6-0 lead. Sampson stopped 14 shots in the second as St. Olaf registered just one shot on goal.
Cranston tallied both of her goals in the final period as the Falcons scored three times to cap the scoring.
Sam Ubl replaced Sampson in net for the third period, stopping eight shots.
Paige Johnson recorded four assists for River Falls in the win.
Anna Bartz had two shots on net, the lone Ole with multiple shots on goal, as St. Olaf was outshot 51-12 against the seventh-ranked team in the latest Division III women's hockey poll.
The Oles will not be in action until Dec. 5 when they host Gustavus Adolphus in MIAC play beginning at 7:30 p.m.
