NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf women's basketball team lost to Carleton College in the closing seconds, 52-51, on Saturday afternoon at Skoglund Center.
Carleton's Wendy Lo hit the first of two free throws with eight seconds left to break a tie. On the ensuing possession, St. Olaf advanced the ball into the front court but did not get a shot off.
Carleton (3-5, 2-1 MIAC) was led by Michele Arima who had 16 points and four rebounds in the victory. Gabbi Stienstra trailed Arima netting 11 points for the Knights.
Sheridan Blanford led St. Olaf (4-6, 1-2 MIAC) with 12 points and nine rebound in the loss. Betsey Daly contributed eight rebounds and added seven points for the Oles, who started out the game on a 9-0 run.
St. Olaf led 31-26 at the half. With two minutes to play St. Olaf tied the game at 51 with a layup from Daly.
St. Olaf will back home again on January 3rd to host Gustavus Adolphus College.
