Daly's double-double not enough in loss to Bethel

ARDEN HILLS, Minn.- Betsey Daly recorded her second double-double of the season but Bethel blocked 17 shots as a team and beat St. Olaf 58-35 Saturday afternoon in Arden Hills.

The Bethel (4-1, 1-1 MIAC) defense forced the St. Olaf (4-5, 1-1 MIAC) attack to shoot just 17.4 percent from the field, including 1-for-21 from beyond the arc. Daly netted six of the Oles 12 made field goals, recording 15 points and grabbing 11 boards. Her first double-double this season came on Nov. 18 vs. Luther College, when she had 11 points and 12 rebounds.

St. Olaf hung in early and trailed by one point with 8:08 to play in the first half. The Royals went on a 16-5 run to end the half to grab a 32-20 advantage. Daly had 10 points in the second half as the Oles were outscored 26-15 in the final 20 minutes.

Bethel held a 30-16 points in the paint advantage while outrebounding St. Olaf 58-43. The Oles only had eight turnovers while forcing 18 but the Royals had 17 blocks as a team, led by Rachel Parupsky with seven as Parupsky finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds and seven swats.

St. Olaf will host four consecutive MIAC games beginning Saturday, Dec. 13 vs. Carleton. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
