NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf baseball team finished their 2014 season

doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Mark Almli Field.

After St. Olaf cut a 3-0 lead to 3-2 with two runs in the fifth inning, the

Paul Lanasa capped off the scoring for Saint Mary's with an RBI in the top
of the seventh.
The Oles' fifth inning rally came by virtue of RBIs from Nick Kulla and Tim
Maus.
The Cardinals built their early 3-0 lead thanks to runs in the first, third
and fouth innings.
Ben Dobosenski (2-5) picks up the victory after throwing four and one-third
innings, giving up four hits, two earned runs and striking out three. Jake

win game two 8-2 and complete the doubleheader sweep.
Saint Mary's nursed a 3-2 lead into the top of the eighth inning, where
they came alive with three runs off of four hits to increase their cushion.
The trio of Lanasa, Gannon and Buerkle rattled off RBIs in consecutive at-bats
to do the damage.
Two runs in the top of the ninth inning concluded the scoring for the
Cardinals, who held on to secure the third seed in the MIAC Playoffs.
The second game of the series featured plenty of offense, with 25 combined
hits between the two teams. Saint Mary's held a 16-9 advantage in the hit

The squads traded runs in the opening frame, and the 1-1 game turned into a
3-2 game in favor of the Cardinals after the third inning, a score that
remained until their late barrage.
Kap Davis went 3-for-5 and Jack Schechinger went 2-for-3 with an RBI and
run scored to lead the Ole bats.
Pitchers Nate Gelle, Joey Voss and Tim Maus split the action on the St.
Olaf mound. Voss threw four scoreless innings after entering to start the
fourth, but ran into trouble in the eighth frame.

Bethel in the opening round of the 2014 MIAC Baseball Playoffs on May 9 in
Minnetonka, Minn.
