NORTHFIELD, Minn. -
Sterling Nielsen scored his 1,000th career point as the St. Olaf men's basketball team defeated Hamline University 76-58 on Saturday afternoon at Skoglund Center.
Nielsen scored a team-high of 18 points in the victory surpassing Justin Herzog on the all-time St. Olaf men's basketball points list. Nielsen also add four assists and two steals to his scoresheet.
Quinton Garvis led Hamline (5-7, 2-5 MIAC) in points with 15. Dior Ford added 12 points for the Pipers in the loss.
St. Olaf (11-1, 6-1 MIAC) had 21 points off turnovers. The Oles went on a 13-0 run in the middle of the first half, taking a 42-29 lead into the locker room.
Riley Aeikens and
Ben Figini matched for 15 points each in the victory.
St. Olaf will be back home again on Wednesday night to host Augsburg College at 7 p.m in Skoglund Center.
