NORTHFIELD, Minn.- Goals from
Drue Engleman and
Kiki Platek were not enough on Firday night as the St. Olaf women's hockey team was defeated, 3-2, by Hamline University.
Engleman put St. Olaf on the board early in the second period with a goal assisted by
Megan Skelly and
Lauren Bazzachini. HU scored two goals in the third period to lead 2-1 before Platek scored on a power play, taking the game into over time. Jordan Verleye scored the game winner for the Pipers with an unassisted goal two minutes into the first period of over time.
The Pipers managed 31 shots during the game, only one more than the Oles, who recorded 30 shots through the three periods.
St. Olaf goalkeeper
Cassie Alexander and HU goaltender Mary Shefveland matched each other with 28 saves.
St. Olaf plays Hamline tomorrow in St. Paul at 7 p.m.
