Photo GalleryNORTHFIELD, Minn. – Bethel University shot nearly 60 percent in the first half and beat the St. Olaf women's basketball team 63-49 Saturday afternoon at Skoglund Center.
St. Olaf (7-10, 4-6 MIAC) led 4-0, its only lead of the game, before Bethel (13-4, 7-3 MIAC) went on a 12-0 run and never looked back. The Royals led the remainder of the contest, though the Oles cut the deficit to one point several times in the opening 20 minutes. When St. Olaf tried to mount a comeback, Bethel answered as the Royals never led by less than eight points in the second half.
Nikki Frogner tied a game-high with 12 points for the Oles.
Betsey Daly added a double-double for St. Olaf, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Bethel had three players score in double figures, including Kalli Zimmermann, who scored 12 points, added 10 rebounds and blocked four shots.
The Royals swatted nine shots as a team and held the Oles below 30 percent from the field for the game. Bethel also hit 18-of-22 (81.8 percent) from the free throw line while their bench outscored St. Olaf's 21-14. The Oles did hold a 20-14 points in the paint advantage.
