WINONA, Minn. - Jane Hannula's unassisted overtime goal lifted Saint Mary's University to a 3-2 MIAC women's hockey victory over visiting St. Olaf on Saturday night to complete a two-game sweep.
Hannula's goal was the third in a stretch of 4:45 for the Cardinals (9-8-2, 7-4-1 MIAC), who trailed 2-0 with under three minutes left.Â
The Oles (1-16-3, 0-9-3) gained the two goal lead on goals from
Jane Vezina and
Drue Engleman. Vezina's score came in the opening period in the 12th minute on an assist from
Kiki Platek. Engleman's score was at 1:34 of the second on feeds from
Megan Skelly and
Lauren Bazzachini.Â
The loss offset another solid effort from Ole goaltender
Cassie Alexander, who had 42 saves in the loss. She had 31 over the first two shutout periods to help the Oles get to overtime.
