Hailey Sampson turned away 40 of 41 shots faced in St. Olaf's 2-1 victory over UW-Eau Claire on Friday night.
Jane Vezina and
Karma Knutson both scored for St. Olaf (1-10-1, 0-5-1 MIAC). Â Vezina's goal came on a power play in the eight minute in period one. Â Jaedyn Walz scored for Eau Claire (2-14-1) to tie the game at one with ten minutes remaining in the second period. Â Knutson scored the winning goal in the fifth minute of the third period to give the Oles a 2 to 1 victory over the Bluegolds.
St. Olaf was 1 for 7 on the power play while Eau-Claire failed to score a power play goal in six attempts.
The Bluegolds outshot the Oles 41 to 34 in the loss.
The two teams play in a rematch tomorrow night at Eau Claire.
