NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Elly Leyva scored the winning goal with 1:30 remaining in OT to give St. Catherine the MIAC victory over the Oles on Saturday afternoon at Rolf Mellby Field.
Ruth Hesse went 98 minutes with three saves before Leyva snuck a ball past her on an unassisted run from the left. St. Kate's goalkeeper Danielle Mendez earned the shutout, making two saves on the way to a St. Catherine (7-4-1, 3-3-0 MIAC) victory.
St. Olaf (3-5-4, 2-3-1 MIAC) led St. Kate's in corners 5-3, while the Wildcats outshot the Oles 14-7.
Madison Van Wylen and
Kajsa Brindley led the Oles with two shots each, while Hannah Okerstrom led the charge for St. Kate's with six shots.
The Oles return to the pitch for another MIAC matchup at home against St. Thomas on Tuesday afternoon.
