STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The St. Olaf women's hockey team opened the season on the road Friday night in Wisconsin, losing to UW-Stevens Point by a score of 2-1.

St. Olaf (0-1, 0-0 MIAC) and UW-Stevens Point (1-0) each had 31 shots, Jane Vezina led the Oles with nine shots in the loss.

Meredith Ingbretson led the Pointers in shots with four, also netting a goal for the Pointers. Â

St. Olaf trailed for the majority of the game, scoring their only goal in the last minute coming off a powerplay goal from Riley Anderson at 19:20.

UW-Stevens Point had nine penalties in the game, killing all but one.

St. Olaf will conclude their doubleheader on Saturday night in Stevens Point.
