ST. PETER, Minn.- The St. Olaf women's swimming and diving team won eight of 16 events on Friday evening as they lost to Gustavus Adolphus College by a narrow score of 153-141.
St. Olaf lead team scoring heading into the final two events of the meet, the 200 IM and 400 Freestyle Relay. Gustavus' Hayley Booher won the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.28, beating St. Olaf's
Maddie Lee (2:18.05) and
Megan Gaylord (2:18.61). The Gustavus relay team of Leah Anderson, Tarin Anding, Nicole Lohman, and Kathleen Reilly combined to win the 400 yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:38.87.
Megan Gaylord won two individual events, the 100 (1:08.06) and 200 Breaststroke (2:32.49). Gaylord joined
Kelly Punyko,
Abbey Schnaith, and
Claire Walters in the 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:50.07) as St. Olaf out-touched Gustavus by .13 seconds.
Walters went on to win two more individual events, the 200 Yard Butterfly (2:15.78) and 100 Free (53.62).
The Oles also had first place finishes in the 200 Yard Freestyle, as well as the 1 and 3 meter diving events. Coutney Miller won both diving events as the Oles swept Gustavus in both the 1 and 3 meter.
The St. Olaf diving team will compete at the Roger Ahlman Invitational on Saturday, November 14th.
