WAVERLY, Iowa - The St. Olaf women's basketball team opened its season with a 73-49 loss at Wartburg College on Sunday afternoon.

Wartburg (1-0) had a trio of double-digit scorers, led by Bobbie Burrows' 17. The Knights also had 20 points off the bench and used a 46.4%-35.2% field goal percentage en route to the non-conference victory over the Oles.

Betsey Daly was the leading scorer for St. Olaf (0-1) as she went 7-17 from the field for 18 points.  Daly also led the team in rebounds with nine.  Ashlyn Geister also scored in double digits for the Oles with 10, as well as four rebounds.  Lauren Gutierrez led the team with four assists.

The Oles play their next game at home as the Bethany Lutheran Vikings visit on Wednesday night at Skoglund Center.
