WAVERLY, Iowa - The St. Olaf women's basketball team opened its season with a 73-49 loss at Wartburg College on Sunday afternoon.
Wartburg (1-0) had a trio of double-digit scorers, led by Bobbie Burrows' 17. The Knights also had 20 points off the bench and used a 46.4%-35.2% field goal percentage en route to the non-conference victory over the Oles.
Betsey Daly was the leading scorer for St. Olaf (0-1) as she went 7-17 from the field for 18 points. Â Daly also led the team in rebounds with nine. Â
Ashlyn Geister also scored in double digits for the Oles with 10, as well as four rebounds. Â
Lauren Gutierrez led the team with four assists.
The Oles play their next game at home as the Bethany Lutheran Vikings visit on Wednesday night at Skoglund Center.
