Connor Quinn had a goal and an assist as the St. Olaf men's hockey team won a shootout after skating to a 4-4 tie with Saint Mary's University on Friday night at Northfield Ice Arena.
Ole Stetsaas and Steve Sherman connected on shootout attempts while SMU missed on their first two.Â
Quinn's goal tied the game with 1:24 left on assists from Sherman and
Peter Lindblad. The assist was Sherman's third of the night. He and Lindblad assisted on Stetsaas' second period goal.Â
The Oles played come-from-behind all night. The Cardinals led 3-1 after one period after Martin Gruse scored a goal and assisted on the other two in the frame. The Oles battled back in the second with goals from
Justin Plate and Stetsaas.
Gordon Wells had the Oles' other goal, on assists from Quinn and Sherman on the power play in the first period.
Jude Hull made 29 saves, including 14 in the third period and three on overtime, off the bench for the Oles in the tie.Â
