Oles jump to early lead but fall to Hamline

ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Olaf jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second period, but Hamline replied with five consecutive goals to defeat the Oles in a MIAC matchup by a score of 5-2 on Saturday night.

Justin Plate began the scoring with a goal in the eleventh minute.  Drew Otto was on for the assist.  Gordon wells added to that total with a Patrick Sivets assisted goal in the second period that put the Oles up 2-0.  It was all Hamline (2-0-2, 1-0-1 MIAC) from that point on, as the Pipers rattled off five goals in the final 30 minutes of play to defeat St. Olaf (1-1-2, 0-1-1 MIAC).

The Pipers fired off 40 shots on goal for the game, with Brandon Zurn being the kryptonite for the Oles as he talied two goals and two assists in the win.  The Oles only managed to reach 29 shots on goal.

Luke Andriuk finished the game with 35 saves, 17 of those coming in the second half.

The Oles return to the rink on Friday against the University of Wisconsin - Superior at the Northfield Ice Arena.
