ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Olaf women's basketball team used late free throws by
Betsey Daly and
Afton Wolter to defeat the Hamline Pipers by a score of 46-41 on Saturday evening.
Makenna Ash led the Oles in scoring with 10 points off the bench while going 4-5 from the field. Â
Lauren Gutierrez led the team with 11 rebounds.
Both teams shot low percentages from the field, as Hamline (2-7, 1-3 MIAC) was held to 24.6% and St. Olaf (7-3, 3-1 MIAC) managed 28%. Â The game remained close, with neither team ever managing a lead larger than six throughout all four quarters.
St. Olaf made 10-14 free throws in the second half to hold onto the lead.
The Oles play next against Martin Luther College on Tuesday in New Ulm, Minn. Â The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
