MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Ole softball team lost both games in a doubleheader against Loras College on Saturday afternoon.
Game 1: St. Olaf 8, Loras 16The Oles jumped out to a 6-2 lead after the second inning, highlighted by
Jessica Bentley driving in three runs on two at-bats in each inning, however, Loras College had five players with multiple runs scored, and overwhelmed the Oles in the late innings. Â Loras brought eight runners home in the sixth inning partly due to walks and a wild pitch.
Loras pitcher Erin Hosch allowed just two hits and two runs in over four innings pitched. Â The Oles'
Danielle Collins allowed eight runs and eight hits in five innings pitched.
Game 2: St. Olaf 9, Loras 12The Oles came out hot again in game two, and led 8-1 after four innings, but a nine run fifth inning by Loras College gave them the victory in game two.
Jenna Boudreau hit 4-for-5 for the Oles, including two RBI singles, but Makaila Haase hit a two run homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning to cap the Loras streak of 11 unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
On the mound for the Oles,
Alex Lopez pitched a complete game, allowing 12 runs on 10 hits. Â Lopez also recorded four strikouts on the day.
