Oles rally to sweep doubleheader against Augsburg

MINNEAPOLIS - Jessica Bentley was 3-for-5 with two home runs, a double and three walks as the St. Olaf softball team swept Augsburg College in a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon.

Game 1: St. Olaf 7, Augsburg 3
Bentley hit two home runs and Brooke Paradise hit one to lead the offense in the first game.  Augsburg struck first with a run in the second inning, but Bentley responded with a two run shot in the top of the third, then a three run deep ball in the sixth to propel St. Olaf (11-21, 6-8 MIAC) to victory.

Danielle Collins was awarded the win for the Oles, pitching a complete game and allowing 11 hits.

Game 2: St. Olaf 6, Augsburg 4
St. Olaf (11-21, 6-8 MIAC) brought in six runs in the first inning and held the lead despite late scoring chances for Augsburg (9-23, 3-11 MIAC).

Six different Oles recorded an RBI in the first inning, highlighted by a Jenna Boudreau single to deep right center to drive in the final run.  Augsburg rallied in the fifth inning, coming within two runs after a Meghan Springboard triple, but couldn't drive in the final runs to overcome the early deficit.

Alex Lopez pitched a complete game for the Oles, improving her record to 3-11.  Lopez finished with four strikeouts while only allowing eight hits.

St. Olaf returns to the field on Thursday to face Concordia College at Mabel Shirley Field.
