Oles down Cobbers to extend winning streak

NORTHFIELD, Minn.- The St. Olaf softball team extended its winning streak to four on Thursday afternoon with wins of 4-2 and 2-1 over Concordia College at Mabel Shirley Field.

Game One: St. Olaf 4, Concordia College 2 | Box Score
The Oles started game one with a three-run first inning. Jenna Boudreau and Becca Walz were walked and Jessica Bentley homered to put the Oles 3-1 up over the competition.

Brooke Paradise and Afton Wolter each went 2-of-3 and Bentley 1-for-2 with a walk in the win. 

Danielle Collins allowed only three hits in the complete game win, racking up seven strikeouts in the process.

Game Two: St. Olaf 2, Concordia College 1 | Box Score 
Woo Bandel knocked in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning as the Oles completed the sweep with the 2-1 win. 

Alex Lopez went the distance for the Oles, scattering five hits while striking out five to get the win. Lopez gave up a two-out double, but enduced a ground ball to finish the sweep.

Bandel's RBI capped a two-run rally. Becca Walz was walked then advanced to second after Brooke Paradise was hit by a wild pitch. Borndale singled to right field, allowing Walz to score. Bandel followed up with another RBI-single, allowing Paradise to score the game-winner.

St. Olaf (8-8, MIAC) will look to extend their winning streak on Saturday when the play crosstown rival Carleton College (3-13, MIAC) on the road.
