St. Olaf split double header vs. St. Catherine

Game 1: St. Olaf 7, St. Catherine 6

St. Paul, Minn.- Seven runs in the last four innings of play helped the St. Olaf softball team win their first of two games against St. Catherine University on Tuesday afternoon in St. Paul. 

St. Catherine lead 5-0 after only three innings played, scoring four runs in the second inning alone. 

The Oles tied the score after the seventh inning, and went ahead in the eigth after a double from Becca Walz was followed up by a home-run from Bentley. 

St. Catherine scored a consolation run in the bottom of the inning, but were unable to tie the game, giving St. Olaf a 7-6 win.

St. Olaf out-hit the competition 11-9, with Walz, Bentley, Paradise, Bandel, Johnson, and Smith tallying RBIs.


Game 2: St. Olaf 3, St. Catherine 7

St. Paul, Minn.- After beating the St. Catherine University 7-6, the St. Olaf softball team dropped their second game of the afternoon 7-3.

St. Catherine were able to score four more runs than the Oles, despite only tallying two more hits, as the Oles were out-hit 8-6 by the Wild Cats. 

Brooke Paradise tallied two hits and two RBIs in the game. Paradise hit a two run home run in the fifth inning to give the Oles a temporary lead of 3-2. St. Catherine responded in the bottom of the inning scoring four runs.

The St. Olaf softball team will play Hamline University in their second double header of the week tomorrow in Northfield.
