ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Olaf College volleyball team won its fourth and fifth straight on Sunday, defeating Lake Forest College and Grinnell College to wrap up the Associated Colleges of the Midwest Invitational at Macalester College.
St. Olaf 3, Lake Forest 0 (27-25, 28-26 and 25-22)The Oles had a team-high eight kills from
Megan Grimes to upend Lake Forest 27-25, 28-26 and 25-22.
Lexie Read and
Kathryn Johnson added seven kills apiece for St. Olaf, which overcame a 22-17 deficit in the first set and a 24-21 deficit in the second.Â
Reni Erickson had 16 set assists and 10 digs while
Kersten Bork had 12 and 15 in the win for St. Olaf.Â
Paige Jespersen led Lake Forest (3-6) with 12 kills.
St. Olaf 3, Grinnell College 1 (25-13, 21-25, 25-18, 25-21)Grimes had 13 kills and Abby Carpetner 10 as the Oles (8-3) held off Grinnell (0-7) in four sets. Grinnell was led by Olivia Fromm's 20 kills and Margaret Giles' 24 digs.Â
St. Olaf had a season-best 34 digs from
Abby Slack.
Johnson was named to the all-tournament team.
The Oles open MIAC play on Wednesday night with a home match against No. 20 Augsburg College (8-2) at 7 p.m.
