Jane Vezina gave the Oles a 1-0 lead at the end of the first, but the University of Eau-Claire Blugolds rallied in the second and third periods to outscore St. Olaf 5-2 at Northfield Ice Arena on Tuesday night.
Vezina's goal came midway through the first period as she found a crease in goaltender Kim Van Brunt's defense with a shot from the left side. Â
Megan Skelly was on for the assist.
The University of Eau-Claire (7-7-4) rallied in the second period with two goals, and despite
Sara Lind tying the game for St. Olaf (1-11-1) at two apiece early in the third, the Blugolds fought back with three unanswered goals. Â Courtney Baugher tallied one goal and two assists on the night, and Danielle Lucker found the back of the net once, and gathered one assist in the victory. Â
Lainie Baldwin found a passing lane for an assist on Lind's goal.
In goal,
Mae Moris made 27 saves while facing 32 shots from the Blugolds. Â Kim Van Brunt was awarded the win as she made 21 saves on the night.
The Oles play next in a MIAC conference battle against the College of Saint Benedict on Friday night at Northfield Ice Arena.
