Ben Figini had 21 points, including two crucial buckets in the waning minutes, as the St. Olaf men's basketball team defeated Carleton 54-43 on Saturday at West Gym to keep possession of the Goat Trophy.
Riley Aeikens added 14 points and nine rebounds and
Robert Tobroxen 14 points as the Oles (6-4, 4-1 MIAC) built an 11-point halftime lead and held off a late charge by the host Knights (6-3, 3-1 MIAC).
Tianen Chen had 18 points and Kevin Grow 10 for Carleton in the loss.
Each team struggled shooting. St. Olaf was 1-for-8 from three-point range and Carleton 2-of-15.
To obtain the Goat Trophy, a team must sweep the beholder. St. Olaf has claimed possession since 2011-12, which snapped an eight-season run for Carleton.
