ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Olaf cut a 14-point St. Catherine advantage to five in the fourth quarter, but the host Wildcats closed the game on a 14-1 run to defeat the Oles 69-51 at the Butler Center on Saturday afternoon.
The SCU win offset a pair of double-doubles from the Oles'
Betsey Daly and
Makenna Ash. Daly had 15 points and 16 rebounds while Ash had 14 and 10 in the loss.Â
LaShay Holt had 19 points and 10 rebounds to pace St. Catherine (4-2, 1-1 MIAC). Audra Clark added 15 points and four assists for SCU, which forced 21 St. Olaf turnovers.Â
Ella Skrien added 10 points and three assists for the Oles (2-5, 0-2 MIAC). Daly's 16 rebounds marked her third straight double-digit effort, a span in which she is averaging 15.7 rebounds/game.
St. Olaf plays at Gustavus on Wednesday and at Concordia on Saturday. The Oles are in the tail end of a nine-game stretch to start the season away from home. St. Olaf will play five in a row at home from Dec. 13-Jan. 11 and three straight later in January.
