NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Cortez Tillman and Taylor Montero had 16 points each as No. 7 St. Thomas outlasted St. Olaf 78-72 in a MIAC men's basketball game on Wednesday night at Skoglund Center.
Ben Figini and
Justin Pahl had 19 points each to lead four Oles (16-9, 14-6 MIAC) in double figures.
Riley Aeikens added 15 and
Austin Majeskie 10 points for St. Olaf, which will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming MIAC playoffs by virtue of Saint Johns' loss at Gustavus.
St. Olaf led briefly late in the first half, at 27-23 with 2:10 to play but the Tommies scored the final 10 points of the half, capped by a Tillman three-pointer to take a 33-27 lead at the break.
Grant Shaeffer added 15 and Ryan Saarela 14 points for UST (22-2, 17-2 MIAC). The Tommies outrebounded St. Olaf 36-24 and were 11-of-13 from the free throw line. The Oles were 18-for-21 from the line and shot 56.5 percent from the floor in the second half.
