MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. - The University of St. Thomas scored four second period goals to ignite a 6-2 MIAC men's hockey win over vistiting St. Olaf on Saturday, ending the Oles' hopes for a playoff berth.

Mark Rath score with eight seconds left in the first period but UST scored four unanswered to take a 4-1 lead.
A Peter Lindblad power-play goal in the third period cut the Tommie advantage to two, but USTÂ picked up two empty-net goals in the third to secure the win.Â
Ole netminder EricHancock made 32 saves, including 27 in the first two periods, but UST did its damage in a 7-plus minute stretch of the second. The Tommies had two power play goals in the flurry -- Joakim Broberg at 4:35 to make it 1-1 and Michael Dockry's goal at 12:21 to make it 3-1. Willie Faust scored each of the Tommies' empty-net goals.
St. Olaf finished the season 6-14-5 overall and 4-8-4 in MIAC play. UST finished second in the MIAC at 10-3-3 and 13-7-5 overall.Â
