WAVERLY, Iowa -
Jake Mathison went 3-for-5 and worked eight shutout innings as St. Olaf scored six times in the first inning on the way to an 8-1 non-conference baseball win over No. 24 Wartburg College on Saturday afternoon.
Mathison limited the Knights (6-4) to four hits while striking out two in eight innings of work. St. Olaf (1-1) also had multi-hit afternoons from
Kap Davis (2-for-5),
Adam Alexander (2-for-4) and
Nate Bauer (2-for-4).
Wartburg made four errors that led to four unearned runs.
St. Olaf returns to play on Saturday against Loras College in the first two games of a 10-game stint in Florida.
