Jessica Bentley's grand slam in the fifth inning helped St. Olaf split a MIAC softball doubleheader with Saint Benedict on Saturday afternoon. The Oles won the opener 4-3 before dropping game two, 9-0.
Game One: St. Olaf 4, Saint Ben's 3Bentley's slam came with two outs after a CSB error. Bentley finished the game 1-for-3 while
Abbey Smith went 2-for-2 with a run. Smith had a one-out single to set up the four-run fifth.
Emily Carr then walked and
Becca Walz reached on an error to set up the game-tying blast.
Alex Lopez improved to 4-5 on the season with her complete game victory. She allowed seven hits and a walk to go with two strikeouts.
Game Two: Saint Ben's 9, St. Olaf 0CSB scored five in the first inning on four hits and never turned back in a 9-0, five inning win over the Oles in the second game. St. Olaf was limited to two hits by Blazer starter Claire Haddick.
