COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -
Sam Stuckmayer homered, doubled and drove in four runs as St. Olaf defeated Saint John's 6-2 in game one before dropping the second, 7-5, in a MIAC baseball doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.
Game One: St. Olaf 6, SJU 2
Stuckmayer's two-run homer gave the Oles a 6-1 lead in the fifth. The blast followed back-to-back doubles by
Tim Maus and
Joe Keiski. Maus was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs in the win. Adan Alexander also had two hits for the Oles.
Patrick Strey, Logan Hershey, Dan Kellyer and Cameron Jurek were each 2-for-4 for the Johnnies.
St. Olaf used a committee of pitchers.
Kade Cronin worked the first two innings, WIll Gustafson the middle three and
Nate Gelle the final two. Gustafson allowed only one hit in his scoreless three innings.
Game Two: SJU 7, St. Olaf 5
The Johnnies built a 5-2 lead and held off a St. Olaf rally to secure the series split. The Oles stranded 12 runners, including five in the final two innings.Â
Jack Wingerd and Max Jackson each went 3-for-4 for SJU. Stuckmayer, Keiski and
Will Cipos had two hits each for the Oles in the loss.Â
