NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf softball team was defeated by Bethel University in a MIAC doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at Mabel Shirley Field.
Game 1: Bethel 4, St. Olaf 1
Jessica Bentley brought in
Becca Walz for the Oles' lone run on a single to center in the first inning to tie the game at one apiece. Bethel's Hannah Hensley homered in the third inning to put the Royals ahead 2-1. An Abbie Bircher double would bring in Bethel's last two runs of the game.
Alex Lopez struck out four and gave up just four hits.
Game 2: Bethel 10, St. Olaf 2
The Oles started off game two with a
Woo Bandel hit and Walz double to make it 1-0. Bethel capitalized in inning four scoring all ten of its runs.
Emily Carr went 2-for-2 with a double and a run. Walz was 2-for-3 also with a double and an RBI. Bentley pitched three of five innings striking out three. Lopez came in to relieve and struck out three and gave up just one hit.
St. Olaf will travel to Carleton on Saturday for another doubleheader. First pitch will be at 1 p.m.
