NORTHFIELD, Minn.- The St. Olaf softball team came from behind twice to win game one of a Saturday doubleheader at Carleton College by a score of 7-3, before Carleton blanked the Oles 5-0 in game two.
Game One: St. Olaf 7, Carleton 3
Alex Lopez gave up one earned run in a complete seven innings pitched. Lopez struck out two batters and walked only one while allowing nine hits. Lopez also contributed offensively with a walk, hit and two of St. Olaf's seven runs.
Macy Vosbeek was 2-for-2 with two walks, and two RBIs in four plate appearances. Vosbeek was joined by
Woo Bandel,
Emily Carr,
Becca Walz, and
Jessica Bentley, who each batted in a run.
Carleton were the first to put a run on the board after Kattie Eppard drove in Anna Lauko with a single to right field in the first inning. St. Olaf tied the game in the top of the third with an RBI single from Bentley, but gave up two unearned runs in the bottom of the third to trail. The Oles rallied to score three runs in both the fourth and fifth inning.
Game Two: Carleton 5, St. Olaf 0
Carleton opened scoring with an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning when Anna Lauko scored off of a throwing error while stealing third base. Carlton added a second run after drawing a walk with the bases loaded.Â
Jessica Bentley went the distance for the Oles, giving up two earned runs.Â
St. Olaf will play at Gustavus Adolphus College tomorrow in St. Peter, Minn.
