NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf women's soccer team scored three goals in the first 23 minutes to top the visiting team from Gustavus by a score of 3-1 at Rolf Melby Field on Saturday afternoon.
Lauren Martin opened the scoring for St. Olaf (4-2-0, 1-1-0 MIAC) in the ninth minute from an assist from
Mackenzie Schoustra. Â The next two goals came off of corner kicks by
Grace Bestler. Â
Claire Bash finished the first corner with a strike from in the box, and
Abby Stets scored the second with a header off of the corner kick from Bestler. Â The Gusties (4-1-1, 1-1-0 MIAC) responded in the 29th minute with Abby Mullenbach hitting a strike from the center of the box.
In goal for the Oles,
Lulu Regules Verduzco made two saves on three shots faced. Â For Gustavus, Ashley Becker made seven saves while facing ten shots from St. Olaf.
The next match for St. Olaf will be at home against Wartburg College on Wednesday afternoon.Â
