NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf women's hockey team lost a non-conference game against the Falcons from UW-River Falls 4-1 on Wednesday evening at Northfield Ice Arena.
After giving up two goals in the first period to Haley Nielsen and Amy Auran, the Oles closed the lead to one in the second period with a power play goal by
Xandi Swedberg at 9:59. Â
Jane Vezina and
Becky Weingarten were credited with the assists on the Ole goal.
UW- River Falls (16-1-0, 2-1-0 WIAC) took command in the third period with two additional goals by Paige Johnson and Payton Rudiger.
St. Olaf (4-10-0, 3-5 MIAC) only managed 11 shots on goal against 35 from the Falcons. Â Vezina led the shot total for the Oles with four, and Auran led all players with five shots.
In goal,
Hailey Sampson played 49:39, making 24 saves, and giving up four goals. Â
Mae Moris took over for the final ten minutes, making seven saves.  Angie Hall made 10 saves on the 11 shots she faced.
The Oles play next against at home against Gustavus on Friday night.
