ST. PETER, Minn. - After a
Jane Vezina power play goal gave the Oles a 1-0 lead at 13:25 in the first period, Gustavus scored seven unanswered goals to defeat St. Olaf on Saturday afternoon.
Vezina's goal came off of assists from
Xandi Swedberg and
Becky Weingarten to open the scoring on Gustavus (10-5-2, 6-2-2 MIAC). St. Olaf (4-12-0, 3-7-0 MIAC) was 1-for-4 on power play opportunities while the Gusties were an efficient 3-for-7.
The Gusties had seven different players score against St. Olaf goalkeeper
Mae Moris, who made 41 saves against the impressive 48 shots she faced. Bailey Jackson faced a mere nine shots, making eight saves for the Gusties.
The Oles play next on Friday against St. Kates at Northfield Ice Arena.
