Auggies get double overtime goal to deny Ole women

MINNEAPOLIS - Augsburg University's Ashley St. Aubin scored 45 seconds into the second overtime to lift the host Auggies to a 2-1 victory over the St. Olaf women's soccer team and secure the outright MIAC regular season title.

The teams played most of the first half scoreless before the Auggies' Jessy Wiskofske scored in traffic after a corner kick in the 38th minute. St. Aubin assisted on the goal.

St. Olaf tied the match with an Emily Helle goal at 55:11 on an assist from Abby Stets. The Oles, who controlled much of the action in the second half, had an 8-3 edge in shots in the second 45 minutes.

Augsburg led in shots overall, 19-15, and had seven corners to the Oles' three.

Brynne Davis made seven saves in the loss for St. Olaf, while Marissa Guillou played the second half and overtime for the Auggies, making three saves in the win.

St. Olaf (9-7-2, 6-3-2 MIAC), denied a share of the MIAC title, will be the No. 3 seed in the MIAC Playoffs. The Oles will host the sixth seed, Gustavus Adolphus College, on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The playoff appearances is the first for St. Olaf since 2013.
