STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Ole men's basketball team (1-0) won their regular season opener 60-45 over the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (0-1) on Wednesday night in a non-conference game.
The Oles scored first and didn't trail until a layup by the Pointers' Mark Nelson gave Stevens Point a 10-9 lead 8:00 into the first half. The Pointers lead would last for 23 seconds, until Nate Albers hit a 3-pointer to reclaim the lead for St. Olaf. The Oles played out the rest of the game without ever relinquishing the lead again.
Albers led the Oles with 20 points, shooting 5-12 from three point range and 6-13 overall. Robert Tobroxen finished with 15 points to go along with a team leading 12 total rebounds.
Next up for the Ole men is their home opener against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday.
