DULUTH, Minn. - The St. Olaf women's basketball team (0-1) lost the season opener 69-63 to St. Scholastica (1-0) on Wednesday night in a non-conference game.
After taking a 39-37 lead at the end of the first half, the Oles were outscored 34-22 in the second. With 5:06 remaining in regulation, the Saints' Rashonna Thomas sank a 3-pointer to turn a 55-52 Ole lead into a tie game. The Oles never led again, and the Saints ended the game on a 14-8 run to hand the Oles their first loss of the season.
Samantha Tisa led the Oles in points with 15 on 5-12 shooting. Ella Skrien and Makenna Ash each scored 12 points of their own, with Skrien leading the Oles in steals (5) and Ash leading them in total rebounds (13).
Next up for the Ole women is a game at the University of Wisconsin River Falls on Friday.
