Nevin sets Ole record in 100 Yard Breaststroke at Rochester Invitational

ROCHESTER, Minn. - Sophia Nevin set the new St. Olaf school record in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:04.73 on Saturday at the Rochester Invitational, where the St. Olaf women's swimming and diving team competed over the weekend. The Ole women finished in eighth place out of the 12 teams. The University of South Dakota women's team scored 1,889 points to take first place.

In the combined team scores the Oles finished sixth with 1,001 points, while the University of South Dakota won with 3,977.50 points.

Sunday
In the 1650 Yard Freestyle, Linnea Rizzo swam a 17:55.70 and Anna Lance swam a 18:16.92 to finish fourth and tenth respectively.

Marissa Wolff, competing in the B-Final of the 100 Yard Freestyle, finished tenth overall with a time of 53.62.

Saturday
Sophia Nevin's new Ole record time (1:04.73) won her the 100 Yard Breaststroke. Lily Borgenheimer of Minnesota State, Mankato placed second at 1:05.30.

Marissa Wolff swam a 5:10.86 to take the top time in the B-Final of the 500 Yard Freestyle, good for ninth overall.

St. Olaf finished eighth in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The Ole team of Kelly Punyko, Nevin, Helen Jensen, and Wolff completed the relay in 1:48.23. Minnesota State, Mankato took first with a time of 1:44.08.

Friday
In the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay, the Ole women's top team finished ninth overall with a time of 8:02.43. The event was won by the Minnesota State, Mankato team, who finished in 7:36.94.

In the 400 Yard Medley Relay, the fastest Ole team took 10th, finishing at 3:59.71. Minnesota State, Mankato again finished in first at 3:48.52. 

In the preliminaries for the 500 Yard Freestyle, four Oles qualified. Linnea Rizzo swam the fasted Ole time at 5:14.93, good for 11th. The other Ole qualifiers were Marissa Wolff (5:16.47), Helen Jensen (5:18.08), and Anna Lance (5:24.27), who placed 13th, 15th, and 23rd respectively. Morgan Holt of the University of South Dakota took the top spot with a time of 5:01.60.
